The Resourceful Car Checklist

Individuals do not have the power to single handedly change global energy use, but we can all do a little to consume less energy and minimize the impact of our transportation needs. By following this checklist you will make your footprint on the earth smaller, and you will save money by purchasing less fuel. (For more information and other ideas on how to improve your vehicle's efficiency use the links on the previous page.)

Within the next month I will:

   Check my tire pressure

Make sure my car is properly tuned up

Combine errands to make fewer trips

Within the next year I will:

   Carpool to work

Walk or ride a bike when possible

Never allow my car to idle for more than a minute in my driveway

The next time I consider purchasing a car I will buy one of the following:

Purchase a vehicle that gets at least 40 mpg, such as a hybrid electric car.

Purchase a vehicle that runs on renewable fuel.
