Sea Coast Management is Committed to Their Sustainability Vision

Sea Coast Management Company is participating in the Governor’s Carbon Challenge, joining Maine’s growing voluntary program to help organizations achieve their carbon emissions reduction goals, as part of their commitment to sustainability.  Sea Coast Management Company’s sustainability vision extends throughout its business in the development of their three adult community facilities—The Highlands and Highland Green in Topsham, and Ocean View in Falmouth, and includes offering a wide range of green building options with all new home construction.

Beginning from its planning stages, Highland Green was developed using the principles from the EPA program called “Smart Growth” and Sea Coast worked with the local community to include their perspective, leading to part of the property becoming a nature preserve.  The company also uses biodiesel across its organization. And their golf course has received certification in Environmental Planning from the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses.  A recent business promotion offered a free Toyota Prius or solar-powered water heating systems for buyers.  For people buying new homes, green building options offered include:

  • Photovoltaic solar systems (electric)
  • Solar hot water systems
  • Energy efficient windows and doors
  • Energy Star-rated appliances
  • Compact Fluorescent lighting
  • Programmable thermostats
  • Certified Lumber
