Environmental Results Program (ERP)

This voluntary innovative program aims to help small businesses understand current environmental requirements and help them come into compliance with the law. It provides focused assistance through:

  • Compliance assistance
Plain language workbooks and checklists are sent out to facilities to help them understand all current environmental requirements that apply to them. The workbook will also give best management practices and pollution prevention measures that go beyond compliance and encourage cleaner, safer, more efficient ways to cut down on costs. Facilities will be able to attend workshops held by the DEP to learn about all the environmental requirements.
  • Self-certification
A facility can self-certify that they are in compliance with all the environmental requirements by reading through the workbook and filling out a self-certification checklist.
  • Performance measures
Baseline surveys are conducted prior to compliance assistance and self-certification to see how facilities are doing prior to assistance. Post-certification surveys are conducted after compliance assistance and self-certification to see how facility performance changed after assistance.

Please refer to the completed autobody business sector program, and the newly announced stormwater program for more information.
