Introduction

Shorebird nesting, feeding and staging areas; and high and moderate value waterfowl and wading bird habitats are significant wildlife habitats.

Shorebird nesting, feeding and staging areas

Significant wildlife habitat includes high and moderate value waterfowl and wading bird habitat, and shorebird feeding and staging areas that (1) are within other protected natural resources, such as wetlands, or (2) meet criteria specified in rules.

DEP has regulated activities in, on or over high these habitats to the extent these habitats were located within another protected natural resource, such as a freshwater or coastal wetland, since September 17, 2005. DEP has regulated activities in, on or over these habitats, located outside other protected natural resources, to the extent they meet criteria adopted in rule since June 8, 2006.

Waterfowl and wading bird habitat

Significant wildlife habitat includes high and moderate value waterfowl and wading bird habitat, and shorebird feeding and staging areas that (1) are within other protected natural resources, such as wetlands, or (2) meet criteria specified in rules.

The marked areas on the waterfowl & wading, and shorebird habitat maps include the 250-foot buffer areas.

DEP has regulated activities in, on or over high these habitats to the extent these habitats were located within another protected natural resource, such as a freshwater or coastal wetland, since September 17, 2005. DEP has regulated activities in, on or over these habitats, located outside other protected natural resources, to the extent they meet criteria adopted in rule since June 8, 2006.
