- Residential Septic System Impacts on Groundwater Quality in Maine -- Executive summary. This is a report on nitrate concentrations in private wells at 18 subdivisions that use on-site septic systems. The report is presented in two parts. Part I contains a discussion of the analysis results for nitrate, and is currently at printing. Part II contains site-specific hydrogeologic information for each of the subdivisions studied, and is intended more for reference by researchers and consultants.
