LakeSmart - Applications and Workshops

2010 LakeSmart Applications (applications are closed for 2009)

Workshop field trip at Pushaw lake We have had so much interest from lake associations in LakeSmart that we have not been able to bring all interested lakes into the program. In order to more fairly deal with applications, we are adding some additional structure to the program. We have developed an application process for DEP’s consideration of new lakes for the program. The next round of applications and acceptance of new lakes will be spring of 2010.

This is a FREE two hour walk through of one or two properties with a host homeowner and an evaluator from SWCD or DEP. This program gives an introduction to the LakeSmart evaluation process and some of the basic principles of landscaping for lake protection. This event can be organized by a group of 6 to 12 people who may live on the same road or just interested members of a lake association. Contact Barb Welch 287-7682 , or your county Soil and Water Conservation District for more information.
