Maine's National Award Winners of the U.S. EPA's Clean Water Act Recognition Award in the CSO Category
The National CWA Recognition Award in the Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Category has been awarded annually by EPA's Office of Wastewater Management since 1991. The CSO award recognizes abatement programs that are consistent with EPA's 1994 National CSO Control Policy. State and Regional CSO administrators present nominations to EPA for acceptance and compliance screening. Nominated projects should be cost-effective, show an innovative approach to planning and, where possible, have documented environmental benefits. Selected candidates are invited by EPA to submit a report answering specific questions about their CSO program and are given the opportunity to showcase their accomplishments. EPA awards first and second places based on a competitive selection.
