Here are some comments from our schools:

On April 24, Claudette Albert from Mt. Jefferson Jr. High in Lee said:
Several buds on trees were observed. No snow was seen in the woods. Students have observed robins, starlings and pussy willows over vacation

Joanne Alex from Stillwater Montessori School in Old Town reports:
April 3 saw Cardinal (male) in school yard
March 29th saw 2 stoneflies on school playground
March 31 saw 2 redpolls in school yard at feeders
April 11 Heard peepers (small group),frog egg mass, water boatman, 
diving beetle and dandelion rosettes, worm, slug, spiders, new hemlock cones.
These observations were done by our Environmental Club on April 11 at the Ornamental Gardens at UMaine, Orono between 3:30 and 5:00 p.m. Sunny, windy. Pond temperature about 60 degrees F (taken by students) near edge where eggs were found. Air temperature 70 F They each were given a wildlife calendar to take home and record other signs of spring. They were excited by the project and as you can see shared everything!

Crocuses 4/4/02, China lake ice out - weekend of 4/4/02

On March 28, Claudette Albert from Mt. Jefferson Jr. High in Lee said:
Students did not find any pussy willows but found buds on other trees. No birds were seen today, it was still snowing. The students had seen chickadees prior to today.

On April 3, Sandy Ferland from Minot Consolidated School said:
Robins were in a flock of 20 to 50 on the school yard. We have a large field outside of the science classroom and in the back of the school.
