DRAFT Maine Statewide Bacteria TMDL (Total Maximum Daily Load) Report. This draft report applies to all bacterially impaired waters in Maine , covering both fresh and marine waters. This TMDL report describes: bacterial impairments, potential sources of contamination, the targets for healthy levels of bacteria, and approaches that could potentially restore these waters. The appendices contain data summaries and specific information on impaired waters that are listed in Maine 's 2008 303 d list. The TMDL sets water quality targets to assure compliance with Maine 's Water Quality Standards and will provide a catalyst to restore waters to meet those standards. Please contact Melissa Evers at 287-2838 or melissa.evers@maine.gov to receive hard copies or ask questions. This draft report is open for public review from May 29 to June 30.

Frost Gully and Concort Gully
DRAFT Frost Gully and Concord Gully Bacteria Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) Report. Frost Gully and Concord Gully are located in Freeport, in Cumberland County, Maine and drain into the Harraseeket River and Casco Bay. Frost and Concord were placed on Maine’s 303(d) list for impairments due to bacteria, primarily due to unspecified sources of runoff. The goal of this TMDL assessment is to integrate bacterial sampling results, estimated stream flows and Bacterial Source Tracking results to understand the nature of the impairments. Additionally, this TMDL set water quality targets to assure compliance with Maine’s Water Quality Standards and provide a catalyst to restore the streams to meet those standards.
This draft report about Frost Gully and Concord Gully is open for public comment until July 25, 2007. Comments will be addressed or incorporated into the final report. Send all written comments to Melissa Evers, Stream TMDLs, Maine DEP, State House Station #17, Augusta, ME 04333 or email: melissa.evers@maine.gov. Hart Brook and Logan Brook
Draft Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) Reports for Hart Brook (DEPLW0850) and Logan Brook (DEPLW0852). Hart Brook, in Lewiston, and Logan Brook, in Auburn, are both located in Androscoggin County, Maine and drain directly to the Androscoggin River. Hart and Logan were placed on Maine's 303(d) list for impaired streams due to violations in aquatic life criteria, as a result of impacts from unspecified urban runoff. These TMDL’s use guidelines derived from the relationship between observed aquatic life impairments in Maine streams and the total impervious landuse in Maine watersheds. These TMDL’s set goals to achieve compliance with Maine’s Water Quality Standards and recommends using BMP’s to reduce the impact of impervious cover.
These draft reports about Hart Brook and Logan Brook are open for public comment until September 11, 2007. Comments will be addressed or incorporated into the final reports. Send all written comments to Melissa Evers, Stream TMDLs, Maine DEP, State House Station #17, Augusta, ME 04333 or
