Habitat: |
This perennial plant grows in wooded areas. Its flowers reach a height of4-8 inches. |
Leaves: |
Light green, 2-3 inches long, with smooth edges. Whorled in groups of 4-8 midway up the stem. |
Flowers: |
Small, white, with 6-8 petals. The flowers are single or in pairs and grow above the leaves. |
Helpful Tips: |
Starflower is native to Maine. Its range spreads across the United States and Canada as far south as Virginia. It has also been seen growing in the mountains in Georgia. For more information, see Audubon Wildflower or Flora of Maine. |
