Habitat: |
This perennial plant is found growing in dry, wooded areas. Its flowers usually reach a height of 6-15 inches. |
Leaves: |
Basal, strap-like, with smooth edges. There are usually 1-2 leaves per plant. |
Flowers: |
Large and showy, with a pink "pouch" and five brownish petals. You may occsaionally see a flower with a white pouch and green petals. |
Helpful Tips: |
Pink Lady Slippers are native to Maine, and their range spreads from Newfoundland south to Georgia and Alabama, and west to Alberta. For more information, see Audubon Wildflower or Flora of Maine. |
