Forsythia (Forsythia x intermedia)

Habitat:

This shrub is commonly planted in peoples' yards. It grows to a height of 10 feet and has a fountain-like growth habit if not pruned.

Leaves:

Oppositely arranged, with partially serrated margins.

Flowers:

Yellow, with four petals. About an inch across. A harbinger of spring.

Helpful Tips:

This shrub does not grow in the wild in Maine. It is a hybrid between two plants that are native to Eastern Asia.
