Bluets (Houstonia caerulea)

(Also known as Quaker Ladies)

 

Habitat:

This plant grows in clumps in fields and lawns. The flowers are on slender stems and are about 3 to 6 inches tall.

Leaves:

Basal or oppositely arranged, tiny and slender.

Flowers:

Small, pale blue, with 4 petals and a yellow center.

Fruit:

A tiny brown capsule that dries up and splits open.
