Habitat: |
This perennial plant grows in wooded areas and has a slender flower stalk that grows as tall as 15 inches. |
Leaves: |
Basal, shiny, and strap-like with smooth edges. |
Flowers: |
Yellow-green, 1 inch long, drooping. There are usually 3 to 6 flowers on each stem. |
Fruit: |
Shiny, blue-colored berries that are a half inch across. DO NOT EAT! |
Helpful Tips: |
This plant is native to Maine. Its range spans from Labrador to New Jersey, and west to Minnesota. It also makes an appearance in higher elevations of Georgia and North Carolina. For more information, see Audubon Wildflower or Flora of Maine. |
