Your local air quality affects how you live and breathe. Like the weather, it can change from day to day, or even hour to hour. Up-to-date information allows you to make decisions based on forecasted air quality. EnviroFlash comes to you, notifying you about air quality- you don't have to go searching for it.
EnviroFlash is a new program, sponsored by the EPA with State and local air quality agencies. EnviroFlash provides important air quality information such as forecasts and action day notifications via email or pager notification. The email includes the same local, air quality forecast information which is coordinated through the news media, like television and radio.
EnviroFlash gives you instant information that you can customize for your own needs, allowing you to protect the health of you and your family. Air quality information allows you to adjust your lifestyle when necessary on unhealthy air quality days. Up-to-date air quality information is especially helpful for people with sensitivities, such as the young, people with asthma, and the elderly.
EnviroFlash covers the entire state of Maine and allows the subscriber to decide at which Air Quality Index (AQI) level to receive email notification. For instance, if you are extremely sensitive to air quality you may request to receive emails whenever a Moderate or above forecast is issued. All others are encouraged to select the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups level. See our FAQ for more information.
Click an EnviroFlash citiy on the map. An on-line subscription page allows users to sign up, edit the reported information, or cancel the service. Once you choose the type and frequency of service that you would like, EnviroFlash will be sent to your email or pager as specified. Other notification programs similar to EnviroFlash may have other registration requirements.
