On Monday, June 9, 2008, the Maine Office of Information Technology shut down the state's FTP site to all anonymous users. This disruption prevents facilities from accessing their 2006 data files and the installation file for the Maine version of Satellite i-STEPS via the FTP link previously provided to you.

We have moved the 2006 data files and the Satellite i-STEPS program files to http://www.maine.gov/dep/air/emissions/2007.htm

Whether your company has an air emission license which requires annual reporting or you are required to report emissions because the annual emissions at your facility exceed thresholds established in DEP Rules, Chapter 137, "Emission Statements," obtaining air emissions data in a timely and accurate manner is a high priority for the Department.

i-Steps Facility Backbonei-STEPS, developed by Pacific Environmental Services (now MACTEC), has been adopted by the Department of Environmental Protection to assist with the electronic submission of air emissions data from facilities, and in turn, the transmittal of that data to U.S. EPA.

i-STEPS is a powerful automated tool for storing, reporting, and managing air emissions data.  Data is managed at four levels in a structural hierarchy,

  • Facility level,
  • Group/Area level,
  • Stack level, and
  • Process Unit level.

The Data Import and Export features allow facilities to electronically transmit emissions data to the Department, thus decreasing data entry time and errors.

Satellite i-STEPS Beginner Training Manual

In May 2005, the Department conducted Satellite i-STEPS Beginner Training in Augusta.  The manual used in that class is now available for download.

Please Note This Change:  General inquiries and annual inventory submittals sent via e-mail should now be directed to the Emissions Inventory Program's new e-mail addresss, emissionsinventory@maine.gov.
