Subject: air-inventory Satellite i-STEPS Patch, Version 3

Version 3 of the Satellite i-STEPS patch can be downloaded at ftp://ftp.state.me.us/pub/dep/2004ISTEPS/. The file is named satpatch05_v3.exe. Like the previous version, the seven (7) files in this patch must be installed in your Satellite i-STEPS program directory. The default download location is C:\i-sat5\.

Versions 3 of the patch corrects two problems discovered after the release of the data sets and patch Version 2 in February 2006. Downloading and installing Version 3 of the Satellite i-STEPS patch will not affect any data entry and editing you may have undertaken to this point.

**Problems Addressed**

(1) Detail Report

Version 3 of the patch updates the Facility Detail Report and corrects a printing problem. The previous Detail Report limited the Facility Pollutant Emissions Summary (found at the end of the Detail Report) to one page. This was a problem for facilities which are reporting more than 50 pollutants.
The patch corrects that error and allows for a Facility Pollutant Emissions Summary of multiple pages.

(2) SCC 10200903

If you have a process unit that uses the SCC above, you have likely been reporting throughput (PROCESS RATE) in TONS WOOD BURNED. The new emission factor table (included in patch versions 2 and 3) contains emission factors for throughput expressed in MILLION BTU HEAT INPUT. Version 3 corrects the SCC UNITS on the Process Unit Identification Screen to read MILLION BTU HEAT INPUT when the field is tabbed through in Edit Mode. All emission factors associated with this SCC remain expressed in MILLION BTU HEAT INPUT, not the traditional TONS WOOD BURNED.

Maine DEP has identified only three facilities in Maine that use the SCC above and will be contacting each of these facilities individually about this issue. If you are adding a wood burning process unit and wish to use SCC above, please take note of this change.

**After Installing the Patch**

You may find that Satellite i-STEPS crashes the first time you open the Detail Report after installing Version 3 of the patch. To eliminate that, we recommend that you run the MAINT01.exe program found in the Satellite
i-STEPS program directory, C:\i-sat5\. A dialog box will prompt you to
point to the data directory. This is the \data\ directory created during the installation of Satellite i-STEPS and can, by default, be found at C:\i-sat5\Data\. Press Select, the maintenance program will run and the dialog box will close as if nothing occurred. You may then open Satellite i-STEPS and continue editing.

If you have any questions about installing Version 3 of the patch or any other problems, please contact me at (207)287-7036 or by e-mail at tammy.gould@maine.gov.

Just when you think you have one problem fixed, another pops up.

It has just been brought to our attention that any information you may have included in Note fields is not printing out in the Comment sections on the new Facility Detail report. The data exists in the i-STEPS data files. This is apparently a new problem.

We have contacted the contractor, again, and will let everyone know when this issue is addressed.

Thank you for your patience.
