The Climate RegistryThe Climate Registry is a collaborative partnership among states, tribes, and provinces to develop and manage a common greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reporting system capable of supporting multiple GHG emissions reporting and reduction policies. The Climate Registry will ensure consistency and transparency between climate programs implemented by states, provinces or tribes and establish a high level of environmental integrity in emissions accounting reporting, and verification. The goals of The Climate Registry are to:
The Registry is governed by its Members: U.S. and Mexican states, Canadian provinces and Indian tribes. Members have signed the Registry's Statement of Principles and Goals (PDF, 31kb) supporting common greenhouse gas measurement and reporting standards. One Board Member per state, province or tribe serves on the Board of Directors of the Registry. Board Members are appointed by their respective Governors, Premiers, or other governing authority. All U.S. states, Canadian provinces, Mexican states, and Indian tribes are welcome to Become Members of the Registry by signing the Statement of Goals and Principles and submitting it to the Registry. There are currently 40 U. S. states, 9 Canadian Provinces, 6 Mexican states, and 3 native American tribes participating in The Climate Registry.
