File Review Hours for the BRWM File Room are as follows:
Monday through Thursday morning appointments start at 8:30 and end at 11:30, and Monday through Thursday afternoon appointments start at 1:30 and end at 4:30. You may reserve the whole day if you think you will need more time than a morning or afternoon appointment will allow.
The BRWM File Room is closed to reviewers Monday through Thursday between the hours of 11:30 and 1:30 and all day every Friday.
To schedule an appointment for a file review, please call (207) 287-7843. When you call, please give the file room manager a list of the files you want to review. This will ensure that those records are in the file room and available for you on the day of your appointment. You may also email your list to DEP, BRWM File Room.

Aboveground Oil Facilities, Asbestos Abatement, Generators, Hazardous & Non Hazardous Waste Manifests, Hazardous & Non Hazardous Waste Transporters, Insurance Fund Coverage Claims, Low & High Level Nuclear Wastes, Mining, Oil Remediation& Resolution (waterline project & third party damage investigation & claims) Oil Terminal Facilities, Resolved Complaints (underground tanks), Sludge & Residuals Facilities, Solid Waste Facilities (Licensed & Closed), Spill Files, Toxic's substances Control Act, Treatment Storage Disposal (TSD) Facilities, Uncontrolled Sites, Underground Storage Tanks, Waste Oil Facilities, and Wastewater Treatment/Sludge.
The following reports are updated monthly. The Spill report has been updated to include the report status. Only reports which are final reports (FR) may be viewed from the file room. Reports are in adobe pdf format.
The Division of Remediation Sites List Descriptions and Database - This list represents the public record of past and current sites located in Maine that are in the Voluntary Response Action Program, the Brownfields Program, the Landfill Closure Program, the Federal Facilities Program, the Superfund Program, and/or the Uncontrolled Sites Program. Sites are listed alphabetically by the municipality they are located in, and the database includes information regarding location, status, and if the property has institutional controls. 78 Pages updated 9-4-2008
Information from the TANKS and HOSS databases is in the form of tables. The tables need to be downloaded to a user's database to be useful. Users should be familiar with relational databases. Be sure to look at the "Read Me" files associated with the tables before utilizing the data.

Here is a link to the tanks database as a flat table. This table includes Owner, Operator, Site, Tank and Chamber information - updated monthly on the first week of the month. (12 MB)
Hazardous & Oil Spill System Online Report Service - This system is designed to enable web users to access the basic oil and hazardous materials spill data contained within the department's main spill reporting database. Users will be able to search for spills by spill number, spill date, town where the spill occurred and whether a spill involved an aboveground or underground petroleum storage tank. In addition, they will be able to conduct a keyword search.
View registered UST, AST, Hazardous Oil Spill System and Remediation Site locations on Google Earth. The Maine DEP GIS Unit is now offering selected data, geographically referenced, from a number of the Department's databases to the public via Google Earth. You will need to have Google Earth installed to view this data.
