Employee Assistance Program Updates - Effective March 1, 2014

The Employee Assistance Program with AllOne Health has long been a valuable benefit to employees and retirees who need access to short-term counseling services at no cost. Employees have been allowed to use administrative leave for up to 8 counseling visits per calendar year.
We have just completed a new contract with AllOne Health. Effective March 1, 2014 the number of counseling visits allowed will be 5 per calendar year for employees and retirees at no cost. (Administrative leave will still be granted for these counseling visits.)
Why the reduced number of visits? On average over the past few years, our members are only using 4.5 – 5.1 visits per year. However, the contract price was based on 8 visits; we were spending money on visits not being used. A contract that caps the number of counseling visits to 5 costs less than one that allows up to 8.
We also learned from AllOne Health that there are other discount programs available that may be useful to our members.
