The Maine Office of Tourism is the office within DECD serving as the state’s customer focused travel marketing organization whose core responsibility is presenting the activities and amenities of Maine to position the state as a world-class, four season tourist destination. Research drives all marketing and promotion activities undertaken by the Office of Tourism.
The Maine Office of Tourism is responsible for:
- State tourism branding
- Out-of-state domestic and international tourism marketing
- Distribution of Maine Invites You and Visitor Information Center operations
- Administration of regional tourism marketing and development grants
- Facilitation and production of the Annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism

The Maine Film Office is a division within the Office of Tourism at DECD responsible for promoting and supporting the media production assets of the State of Maine. The Film Office provides technical assistance resources to Maine’s media community, and administers the Maine Attraction Film Incentive Program, which provides generous tax incentive opportunities to film and media projects in Maine.
