Governor LePage Honors Maine's Best in Business

The Maine Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) is accepting nominations for the 2012 Governor's Award for Business Excellence.

Each spring, the Governor recognizes Maine businesses that consistently demonstrate a high level of dedication to their employees, communities and to providing outstanding products and services.

The LePage Administration’s top priority is to create and sustain jobs to support Maine’s workforce. The Governor’s Award for Business Excellence, sponsored by Fairpoint, will recognize Maine’s strongest businesses, large or small, for their contribution to the local economy.

"This award represents the innovative spirit that has earned Maine a reputation for top-quality workmanship, service and a commitment to excellence," says DECD Commissioner, George Gervais. "We encourage all Maine businesses to get involved."

Recipients of the 2011 Governor’s Award for Business Excellence included: Snowman Printing in Hermon, Treworgy Family Orchards in Levant, Duratherm Window Corporation in Vassalboro, JSI Store Fixtures in Milo, Mid State Machine Products in Winslow and Hardwood Products Company in Guilford.

DECD will accept nominations until Friday, March 23, 2012. Businesses may be nominated by a third party or they may nominate themselves. Small businesses are strongly encouraged to apply. A panel comprised of previous award winners and proven business professionals will review the nominations and select the winners.
