Maine DECD Announces New Tourism Director
Commissioner of the Maine Department of Economic & Community Development (DECD), Philip Congdon today announced the selection of Carolann Ouellette as director of the Maine Office of Tourism (MOT).
Ouellette most recently served as deputy director at the Office of Tourism. Additionally, she served as international marketing manager and had oversight of programs including tourism training initiatives and arts and heritage tourism.
"Carolann's professionalism, her proven track record leading the tourism office staff and its contractors, and her knowledge of destination marketing makes her the right choice for the job," said Congdon.
Ouellette is a graduate of Cornell University School of Hotel Administration. Before serving as MOT's deputy director, Ouellette worked within Maine's tourism industry including owning the Moose Point Tavern in Jackman. She was also manager at New England Outdoor Center in Millinocket and inn manager at the Sugarloaf Inn.
In Ouellette's new role, she will be responsible for the Maine Film Office, the development and implementation of the tourism strategic marketing plan, overseeing the budget and the overall operation of the office.
