2012 Public Facilities and Infrastructure Award Announcement

Public Facilities: The Town of Milbridge, $258,000, for construction of the library portion of a new municipal facility. The Town of Greenville, $300,000, to repair the hull of the historic steamship “The Katahdin.” The Town of Van Buren, $100,000, for improvements to the “Acadian Village.” The Town of Skowhegan, $35,472, to finish the exterior of the new egress stairwell for the Skowhegan Free Public Library. The Town of Dexter, $50,000, for self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) for the Dexter Volunteer Fire Department. The Town of Winterville Plantation, $28,415, to make repairs to the existing sand/salt storage shed. The Town of New Vineyard, $180,000, for construction of a handicapped accessible, 1600 square foot addition to the building that houses the New Vineyard Public Library. The project also includes a new well and septic system.

Public Infrastructure: The City of Calais, $500,000, for sewer main replacement on Clark and School Streets. These improvements are part of the continuation of work under the DEP consent decree. The Town of Farmington, $500,000, to construct 320 feet of paved roadway, install water and sewer mains, power and telecommunications lines, as well as street lighting to service a new 32-unit apartment complex. The Town of Mexico, $500,000, to replace severely tuberculated water lines, clogged and broken clay sewer lines, and separation of sewer and storm drains. The Town of Cornish, $500,000, to replace 4,300 linear feet of corroded and leaking 6-inch cast iron water main running through the center of town with 12-inch ductile iron pipe. The Town of Bucksport, $500,000, to replace a 317,000 gallon capacity, corroding riveted steel water tank built in 1927 with a 601,600 gallon capacity concrete tank and measures to eliminate contamination from birds and bugs. The Town of Starks, $100,000, towards replacement of the unsafe Pelton Brook Bridge on Mayhew Road that was built in 1907. The City of Bath, $260,000, for replacing water mains on Bailey, Tallman, and Fitts Streets, and replacing or repairing sewer pipes on Fitts, North, and Granite Streets .
