Date: April 10, 2014
Time: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Location: Somerset County UMaine Extension Office
off the Back Road
Skowhegan, Maine

The UKV Chapter of SWOAM and the Maine Forest Service will be holding an informational training session on statewide standards for timber harvesting and related activities in shoreland areas. These standards are replacing old town ordinances for timber harvesting in the shoreland zone in certain municipalities since January 1, 2013. This session will run from 6:00-8:00 PM and will take place regardless of weather. The session will give an overview of the standards, provide information on resources for assistance with the standards and be an opportunity to ask questions. Foresters, loggers and landowners who harvest timber in shoreland areas are encouraged to attend. More information on State Wide Standards, including a complete copy of the rules and a list of which towns have adopted statewide standards, can be found on the Maine Forest Service website at: http://www.maine.gov/doc/mfs/fpm/swstds/sws.html.
