Opening School Year 2014-15

Download the following documents in order to complete an application to open and operate a public charter school for the school year 2014-15. Contact if you encounter any problems with the documents on this page.

Potential applicants must complete the Letter of Intent to Submit a Charter School Application and submit it by Sept. 3, 2013. The Charter School Application is due to the Maine Charter School Commission by 5 p.m. on Dec. 2, 2013.


Commission discussion and vote on three proposed charter schools scheduled for March 3, 2014; 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.; DHHS Building, 35 Anthony Avenue, Augusta; Conference Rooms C and D.



In-person Interviews and Public Hearings


In-person Interviews: 12 noon to 3 p.m. - An interview between the proposed school's governing board and the Maine Charter School Commission.  Open to the public.


Public Hearings:  3 - 7 p.m. - The public hearing is a scheduled time for the Commission to receive comments on the proposed charter school.  Written public comments will be accepted for 7 days after the scheduled hearing date.
