Maine State Prison Honor Guard Creed

As a member of the Maine State Prison Ceremonial Honor Guard my standards of conduct and level of professionalism must be above reproach, for I represent all others in public service at the Maine State Prison.

Those that came before have earned for me, with distinction, the right to wear the ceremonial uniform. A distinction honored in a rich tradition and history. I will honor their memory by wearing it properly and proudly.

Never will I allow my performance to be hindered by the somberness or excitement of the event. I will always stand straight, crisp and motionless.

I will remain highly motivated and conditioned so that all of my movements throughout every drill and ceremony performance are executed with precision.

Obligated by my public service oath, I am constantly striving to achieve perfection because of my devotion to duty and my dedication to the Staff of the Maine State Prison.

I must never forget I represent every member, past and present, of the Maine State Prison and the Maine Department of Corrections.
