The Maine Correctional Center is a medium/minimum security facility and houses both male and female prisoners. Established by an act of the Legislature on April 4, 1919 an appropriation of $45,000 was made to purchase land and buildings. The Maine Correctional Center employs individuals in a wide variety of positions: clerical workers, teachers, corrections officers, vocational instructors, mental health workers and professional support positions. Where We're Located
The Maine Correctional Center is located in Windham, Maine, a town of approximately 15,000 people. Windham is approximately 5 miles from Portland, Maine’s largest city, and within minutes of some of Maine’s finest ocean front beaches as well as some of the finest fishing, hunting and skiing in the northeast United States.

Training
We'll make sure you have the training and skills you need to do your job effectively and professionally. All new staff attend a facility orientation and receive 80 hours of training that will help you be a successful employee. Corrections officers attend a five week classroom training academy followed by five intensive weeks of field training on aspects of correctional work.
