Computer Training Lab
Guarantee, Directions, Information, Cancellation Policy
Guarantee:
To encourage people to enroll in a class, we guarantee that if the class is not what the participant had expected, either too hard, or too easy, or not otherwise consistent with the participant's needs, then the participant may leave the class at the morning break, and re-enroll in another class for no extra charge that is more attuned with the participant's skill level and expectations.
Directions:
Our Computer Training Lab is located in Room 104 of the Burton M. Cross Office Building, 111 Sewall Street in Augusta.
From I-95, if northbound take Exit 109 (formerly 30), if southbound 109A (formerly 30A), proceed East on Western Avenue, and at the third light, take a right onto Armory Street opposite the National Guard Armory. This street bends to the left and becomes Capitol Street. Proceed down Capitol Street to the traffic light at the bottom of the hill and take your next right just after the red brick building. This brings you into the main parking lot for the Burton Cross Office Building.
You may also park at the Parking Garage located on corner of Sewall and Capitol Streets and left at the traffic light. There is no charge for parking at either location.
If you need more detailed driving directions to our location, select the map link above and locate DRIVING DIRECTIONS, then select TO THIS LOCATION that can be found just above the map. Enter the starting point where you're coming from and it will give you more complete details that you can print. You can also print the map
General Information:
The Computer Lab is equipped with Microsoft Office applications version 2003.
No food or drink is permitted at the computer workstations with the exception of bottled water with screw-on caps.
Some people find the room a little cool, so you may want to bring a sweater or jacket.
You should contact our main Office line at (207) 624-7764 if you require any special arrangements well in advance of the course.
Cancellation Policy:
Since the Computer Training Lab (CTL) is required to generate its own operating revenue, we have developed the following cancellation policy, which we believe is fair to the Lab and fair to its users. These schedules are based upon the estimated time needed for us to fill a cancelled slot with another participant or to plan another use for the Lab in regard to cancelled lessees or charters.
Accordingly, the following cancellation charges must be levied in order to maintain the operation of the Lab. These charges apply regardless of whether the participant reschedules for another time.
For Individual Courses
Number of Calendar Days between our receipt of your cancellation and the class |
Percentage of Course Fee to be Paid |
14 calendar days or more |
0% due |
Within 13 to 8 calendar days |
50% due |
Within 7 to 0 calendar days |
100% due |
Replacements - Please note that If YOU find a substitute participant to fill your canceled slot, then no cancellation charge will levied; the substitute must fulfill any prerequisites for the course in question. Also, if we have a waiting list for the class with which we can fill a cancellation, then no charge will be levied to the original slot-holder. Course Guarantee : This cancellation policy does not affect our regular Course Guarantee in any way; i.e. if a participant determines that a course does not meet that participant's expectations (too easy, too difficult, etc.) then that participant may leave the class at the morning break, and be re-scheduled to another class more consistent with his or her needs for no extra charge.
For Leases or Charters of the Computer Training Lab
Since a lessee or charter who cancels the use of the room presents an even more difficult challenge for us to recoup anticipated lost revenue or to plan for another course to occur that day, the following cancellation schedule must apply:
Number of Calendar Days between our receipt of your cancellation and the leased or chartered day |
Percentage of Lease or Charter Fee to be Paid |
60 calendar days or more |
0% due |
Within 30 to 60 calendar days |
50% due |
Fewer than 30 calendar days |
100% due |
If we cancel a scheduled course
- for lack of adequate enrollment - we will e-mail cancellation notices of the class at least five calendar days prior to the class and post a notice on that course's page on our website http://www.maine.gov/computertraining/ . No charges, of course, will apply
- due to instructor illness or other unforeseen events - we will e-mail cancellation notices as quickly as we learn about the unforeseen event, post a notice on the Computer Training Lab (CTL) itself, and will post a notice on the course description on our website http://www.maine.gov/computertraining/ . Participants will be rescheduled to the next time that class is offered. If that date is not convenient for the participant, no charge will apply
- due to closing of state offices - no charge will apply and we will be in touch with you about re-scheduling.
