Welcome to the Open Burning Permit Online Purchasing Service

The Maine Forest Service is pleased to offer citizens the option to purchase open burning permits online! Through our easy online process you will be able to purchase an open burning permit 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing permits are being issued at the time. Online permits are only valid for the immediate 48 hours after payment has been submitted. Burning permits can not be purchased for a future date. The online service is easy and payment by credit card is quick and secure. You will be able to print your permit at the end of the online process.

Notice: On-line burn permits are only valid on class 1 or 2 days. The person requesting the permit must verify the class day by selecting the "forest fire danger report" link after 9am on the day they desire to burn.

What are the Service Fees?

Open Burning Permit : $7.00 per permit

What you will need:

• Information regarding the burn
• Credit/Debit card (Mastercard and Visa)
• A printer

Note: Campfire permits for remote campsites in unorganized townships can NOT be obtained through the on-line burn permit system. Please contact the closest Maine Forest Service office for campfire permits.
