CareerCenters in Bath can help you explore employment and career alternatives, assess transferrability of skills and experience, and develop a plan for transition. Education Resources:University of Maine System: Employer based academic programs will be provided at worksites for workers facing layoffs from closed military installations. Maine Community College System: The Maine Community College System will be providing a limited number of classes to affected workers who are Maine residents. FAME scholarships: Subject to board approval, FAME has committed up to $250,000 in NextGen Access Scholarships to eligible individuals who are seeking higher education as a result of base closure. Adult education: The Maine Department of Education will provide standardized basic English and math assessments on site to all employees prior to the base closure to identify those who will need academic assistance and re-training before re-entering the workforce and education system. Health Care:DIRIGO Health Care will be open to any and all individuals and small businesses effective January 1, 2006.

BRAC Transition provides information about transition assistance programs offered by the Dept. of Defense and other Federal agencies.
Maine's network of 23 CareerCenters provides free employment services to jobseekers including: job referrals, career counseling, job-hunting workshops, workforce information, skills assessments, and access to training resources. |
