Office of Economic Redevelopment and Re-employment

The Governor, by Executive Order, is establishing the Maine Office of Redevelopment and Re-employment which has three principal functions:

  • To coordinate all Maine executive branch departments through one single point of contact and accountability for all post-BRAC actions taken;
  • To assist Local Redevelopment Authorities (“LRAs”); and
  • To deliver comprehensive regional response for economic development and workforce and community assistance.

While the LRAs will focus on planning and implementation for the reuse and redevelopment of the physical facilities and properties that have been closed, the Maine Office of Redevelopment and Re-employment’s scope will extend beyond the borders of the closed base facilities and extend to the needs of the broader region affected by the closures.
