Managing in State Government

This two-day program is required for all newly appointed (within three months on the job) managers and supervisors in Maine State Government, as well as for managers and supervisors who would like a refresher.

Locations may vary- please review your enrollment confirmation for location of your class. Class is held from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm each day of the two-day class. Your department will be billed $150.00 per participant.

Topics Covered:

This Learning Experience focuses on the manager's responsibilities under the State's human resource system, effective managerial style and an overview of the State's performance management system.

Discussion topics include Workplace Harassment, Contract Administration/Progressive Discipline and supervisory responsibilities under Workers Compensation. Participants will leave with knowledge essential to handle the challenges of management and the framework for developing an effective supervisory practice.
