This is a two-day, interactive program, with a focus on practical, effective management activities for developing an engaged, high performing workforce. It will answer some the most common questions that managers have, like:

How do I motivate my employees?

How do I get employees to do what they are supposed to do?

What is the best way to talk with someone about their performance and still maintain a positive working relationship?

You will learn how to give feedback that increases motivation to improve performance; provides an understanding of desired behaviors and maintains or enhances self-esteem. There will be opportunities to practice and build confidence to impact employee behavior in such a way that they will want to consistently perform at the highest possible level.

Describe the State of Maine’s performance management system
Create an effective performance development plan for employees
Incorporate a process for ongoing performance monitoring and review
Identify guidelines for giving and receiving feedback
Understand what makes giving critical feedback so HARD?
Identify and practice skills for working with “difficult” people and challenging issues
