In today's work environment we are being asked to do more with less. Operating budgets are being cut; staffs are being downsized and work processes are being streamlined. In this current reality, successful leaders are discovering the value of developing empowered employees who keep their performance commitment and rise to meet the next organizational challenge.
Empowerment and accountability are leadership concepts that are easily understood but not so easily applied. This workshop will provide an opportunity to explore the complexity of integrating these concepts into our leadership styles and to create the environmental platform for validation and institutionalization of an empowered workforce. The workshop's design includes an organizational simulation that quickly presents leaders with a provocative challenge and engages the learner in "typical" organizational tensions. Tools and techniques for understanding your role will be provided as well as opportunities to chart the roadmap and build strategies for your group to take the journey toward self-responsibility.
OUTCOMES:
1. To understand the complexity of introducing and applying the concepts of empowerment and accountability in the workplace
2. To assess individual and organizational readiness to move from a top-down to more empowered organizational structure
3. To understand the six elements that are present in an accountability-based culture
4. To learn tools, techniques and strategies for moving toward enhanced empowerment and accountability in a government bureaucracy
5. To understand the leadership role in this process and what type of skills, attitude and commitment is required to be successful
