Integrated Pest Management (IPM)

The Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Program takes an photo of an IPM scoutactive role in promoting and facilitating the use of IPM; best management practices that emphasize quality production and health while minimizing reliance on pesticides.  The IPM program provides leadership and technical expertise to farms and communities through education, demonstration and outreach activities, such as:

Vegetable IPM
  • Survey of pests and management practices used in vegetable production
  • Research on alternatives for management of insect pests of cucumbers, pumpkins, and squash.
School IPM
  • Workshops, guidelines, factsheets, checklists, and more.
Poultry/Livestock IPM

 

The IPM program works closely with the Maine Integrated Pest Management Council to promote IPM in the state.
