A quick guide to Maine's school
"Save the Date!" - May 3, 2013 Troy Howard Middle School, Belfast, ME |
A survey conducted by the IPM Institute of N.A. to assess the status and challenges of IPM implementation in public schools in Maine.
Pesticide use is strictly regulated in Maine schools. All Maine schools, both public and private, are required to adopt Integrated Pest Management (IPM) policies and practices and appoint an IPM coordinator. IPM is an effective and environmentally sensitive approach to pest management that relies on common sense practices and shared responsibilities. IPM enables schools to manage pests through regular pest monitoring, effective communication, good facilities management practices, and the use of low-risk pest control. The goal of School IPM is to protect students, staff, and visitors from harmful exposure to pests, diseases, or harmful chemicals.
