Regulated Local Distribution Companies Currently Authorized To Serve In Maine

Northern Utilities, Inc. Northern currently serves approximately 25,000 customers in greater Portland, Lewiston/Auburn, and Kittery. Northern offers a choice of transportation-only or sales service to all commercial and industrial customers and sales service to residential customers. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of NiSource, an energy services company headquartered in Indiana. Northern’s rates for each customer class may be found at www.northernutilities.com/rates. Northern’s rates are composed of three components – its delivery (or transportation) rates, its cost of gas rates, and its environmental recovery rate. The latter two are subject to change every six months.

Bangor Gas Company, L.L.C. serves customers in Bangor, Brewer, Veazie, Orono, and Old Town. Bangor Gas is a wholly-owed subsidiary of Energy West. Bangor Gas obtains its gas supply via the Maritimes and Northeast interstate pipeline. Bangor Gas offers sales service to all classes of customers and transportation-only service to all Commercial and Industrial customers. Maine Natural Gas, L.L.C. Maine Natural Gas currently serves customers in Windham, Gorham, Bowdoin, Topsham and Brunswick. Maine Natural Gas is a subsidiary of Energy East, an energy company headquartered in New York state. Maine Natural Gas offers transportation-only service to all commercial and industrial customers and sales service to all classes of customers. Maine Natural Gas has a monthly cost of gas rate and also offers a Fixed Price Option for the cost of gas.
